Worked examples
Tip on a bill
An 18% tip on a 60 bill is 10.80, for a total of 70.80.
Splitting three ways
That 70.80 total split between 3 people is 23.60 each, including 3.60 of tip each.
Uneven cents
A 100 total split 3 ways is 33.33 each, which adds up to 99.99, so one person needs to add the missing cent.
Good to know
- The tip is calculated on the amount you enter. If you prefer to tip on the pre-tax amount, enter the bill before tax.
